India captain Mahendra Dhoni has expressed his concerns about the effects of a hectic season that has beckoned his team since May this year as he fears that the players might just get physically and mentally exhausted by the time they arrive in Australia in December.
Dhoni’s boys tamed Australia in the Twenty20 international in Mumbai on Saturday night but the wicket-keeper batsman fears that the return contests in Australia this summer might endup being one-sided because of India’s gruelling schedule.
“We have a 10-day gap right now, and in between the Pakistan series and the Australian series we have just a three or four day gap,” Dhoni, who was icing a niggling knee injury, was quoted as saying to New Zealand Herald.
“It’s quite tough on the cricketers, but that’s the way it goes,” Dhoni added.
