Former chairman of Indian selection committee, Dilip Vengaskar reveled that all 3 guns of Indian cricket Sachin, Dravid and Ganguly suggested Dhoni as a captain of Indian team after Dravid left the Captaincy of Indian team. Dhoni got the chance to lead Indian team when all 3 big guns withdrawn from T-20 world cup. Dhoni proved their decision right by winning T-20 world cup which made it easy for him take over captaicy in all formats of cricket.
