Dhoni boys started with the bang with winning there first 4 games but after that they seems to have lost the way plus the loss of some of the key players like hayden. But all that happen the table still shows that they are having 14 points which means they have to beat the Hyderabad boys to go through the semi finals.

As Mumbai lost to royals yesterday so if Dhoni boys manages to win against Hyderabad they will be ok but if they lost that match they will have to pray that Mumbai loosses its match against royal challangers tomarrow.

Regarding there defeat he said the first partnership between Gambhir and Sehwag took the game away from us and we were unable to come back and that’s the reason we lost the match. It was there day and both bated very well although Sehwag gave us little chance but at end both are good batsmen and all credit to them.
Dhoni said on his team performance that he is fully satisfied and happy with his team especially bowlers with special mention of Muttiah Muralitharan.

Harbhajan Singh has further deepened the animosity between India and Australia, calling Matthew Hayden “a big liar” and Adam Gilchrist “no saint”.

The Indian has been in the headlines on the acrimonious tour of Australia ever since he was banned for three matches for allegedly racially abusing Andrew Symonds during the second Test in Sydney in January.

The suspension was later overturned following an appeal hearing, but the relations between the two sides deteriorated as Hayden called Harbhajan an “obnoxious weed” on radio during the subsequent one-day series.

Harbhajan said he was upset when Hayden and wicketkeeper-batsman Gilchrist both supported Symonds in the racial row.

“Don’t talk about Hayden’s credibility, he is a big liar,” Harbhajan told the Delhi-based tabloid Mail Today.

“He (Gilchrist) is also not a saint. He, of course, pretends to be a saint - someone who doesn’t say an offensive word on the field.

“But this is completely wrong. There are times when he doesn’t let an opportunity go (to) waste,” Harbhajan said, adding Gilchrist said nasty things on the field.

Gilchrist, who earned the reputation of being a “walker” during his illustrious career, retired from international cricket after the triangular finals, won 2-0 by India on Tuesday.

Sri Lanka, knocked out earlier, were the third team in the fray.

Harbhajan described Australia as an “arrogant side” but added he never expected they would give his team “so much crap” on the field.

“The whole world knows how the Australians target individual players to break their confidence. This was not new for us either, but calling me a racist was something we never expected,” he said.

“When we had enough of it, we also gave them back and they started complaining to the umpires about me. It was stunning … how low they can stoop to break a player’s confidence.”

The off-spinner was, however, all praise for Brett Lee, saying the Australian fast bowler was different from his teammates.

“Lee never spoke in the same manner as the rest of his teammates. He never uttered any nonsense to us and kept visiting our dressing-room even after Sydney,” he said.

Harbhajan said he was happy his side gave a fitting response to Australia by capping their testing tour with a stunning victory in the one-day finals.

“It was like Harbhajan v Australia after that (Sydney Test). It was, of course, very difficult to focus on cricket,” he said.

“I was proud of the way our team played and I believe we have the potential to be the number one side in the world.”

Harbhajan has been a thorn in Australia’s flesh since 2001 when he claimed 32 wickets in three home Tests to play a key role in ending their 16-match winning streak under Steve Waugh.

The Men in Blue received a glorious homecoming in Delhi on Thursday 6th March, 2008. The man who had a major hand in India’s victory down under — Sachin Tendulkar — took the opportunity to remind everyone of the contribution of the seniors to the team.

Sachin said, “It has been a good journey for the youngsters, but at the same time I would like to remind everyone that you cannot forget what the other senior players, who were not there on the top, have done for India. Their contribution should not be forgotten.”

Sachin Tendulkar who has served Indian cricket tirelessly for 18 long years appealed that the nation should not forget the wealth of experience the senior players have and the contributions they have made in the past to make team India victorious.

This is also a message from Sachin Tendulkar to the ODI captain MS Dhoni, for whom the CB series triumph was a stepping stone for his young team. The appeal came in keeping in mind the seniors performances down under in the Test series. Sachin said that they were the ones who instilled confidence in the youngsters with their stellar performances.

Rightly so, Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid may not have been a part of the ODI team in the victory down under, however, their records speak volumes. Ganguly has 11,363 runs in 311 One-dayers with an average of 41 with 22 centuries under his belt. With a strike rate of around 74 and high levels of performances in the international circuit it is yet believed that he is unsuitable for this format of the game.

Rahul Dravid who scored over 10 thousand runs from 333 one-dayers averages at 40 with 12 centuries under his belt. These records are no mean achievement and his stability and technique inspires confidence amongst one and all.

It will be audacious to call time on the ODI careers of these two extra-ordinary gentlemen but Sachin’s words is a timely reminder to treat these senior players with due respect and applaud them for the contributions they have made towards Indian cricket.

Indian captain MS Dhoni said it was a very special feeling to beat Australia and he would not compare this ODI series win with any other.

“I don’t believe in comparisons. It was very special beating Australia in Australia, especially in two consecutive finals,” he told television channel NDTV.

“A lot was said about the Australians and how they come back strongly, but we did very well to deny them that opportunity,” he said before boarding the flight back home in Melbourne.

“The credit (for this win) goes to the team, the support staff and even the boys on the bench, who did not get to play in the series,” he added.

Dhoni praised Ishant Sharma and Praveen Kumar for their fantastic showing Down Under.

“Ishant is a very different bowler. Not only does he bowl in the right areas, he’s a good thinker as well. He has picked up from the experiences of the seniors. He was our best bowler in the series,” he said.

About Praveen, Dhoni said: “He’s not an express bowler but he is consistent. He’s a good asset for the team and if he works a little more on his batting, he will be another good all-rounder.”

Asked to describe himself, the Indian skipper said he is “funny, sarcastic with a sense of humour, bit aggressive, not very vocal but gets vocal when he gets angry, loves his team and looks for character.”

Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar, who silenced his critics with a vintage display in the two CB series finals, has said he is not contemplating retirement at this stage of his career.

“No, I am not even contemplating retirment. There are many rumours. If you know I am retiring, please let me know. I am not retiring,” Tendulkar told television channel NDTV before boarding the plane back home in Melbourne.

The mild-mannered Tendulkar was also scathing in his attack on critics who had written him off.

“It (the criticism) doesn’t hurt. People have their own ways of judging things. I basically don’t read articles. I don’t think it helps me in any way. Someone who writes has to have the credibility. I have been around long enough to know what is right and what is wrong,” he said.

“I am in touch with the guys who help me. If they see something wrong, they pick up the phone and speak to me,” he added.

Tendulkar, who has gone to become the seniormost player in the team after having started as a baby in the side, said it “has been a fantastic journey”.

“I have enjoyed every moment of it. It was my dream to play for India and I am still living the dream. After my debut, every day has been special,” he said.

Tendulkar said he was also enjoying the new youthful atmosphere in the dressing room.

“The dressing room atmosphere is lively, everyone is cracking jokes. It’s wonderful to be alongside such fantastic players. It’s a nice blend of seniors and juniors,” he said.

India’s little master Sachin Tendulkar has stormed to the top of LG ICC Player Rankings for ODI batsmen after brilliant performances in the tri-series final which concluded in Brisbane on Tuesday.

Tendulkar jumped 10 places to the top spot after scoring 399 runs in the series, including match-winning knocks of 117 not out and 91 in the finals in Sydney and Brisbane, respectively, according to latest ICC rankings released on Wednesday.

It is almost three-and-a-half years since the 34-year-old from Mumbai has been at the top of the one-day chart. Tendulkar, who has scored 16,361 runs with 42 centuries, last spearheaded the batting chart in August 2004 during the series against Sri Lanka in Colombo.

Tendulkar had entered the series in eighth place on 736 points and after battling the ups and downs during a keenly contested series and finished on 777 points to lead Australia captain Ricky Ponting by seven points.

Besides Tendulkar, Australia opener Matthew Hayden is the only big name to have made movement in the right direction. He climbed two places to finish eighth following his 298-run contribution.

However, Australia wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist’s hopes of ending his career on top of the batting list were dashed when the 36-year-old from New South Wales signed off in sixth place after dropping four positions.

The Aussie duo of Mike Hussey and Andrew Symonds managed to hold on their places in seventh and 14th positions respectively.

India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni dropped one place to 10th, Australia’s Michael Clarke slipped seven places to 12th, and India’s Yuvraj Singh fell one place to 18th while Gautam Gambhir, who was the leading run-getter of the series with 440 runs, slipped one place to 27th.

In the rankings for ODI bowlers, Australia fast bowler Brett Lee and Mitchell Johnson failed to retain their places. Lee dropped two places to seventh while Johnson failed to enter the top 10 and instead slipped four places to 15th.

Harbhajan Singh, however, improved three places to 18th, while Praveen Kumar climbed 47 places to 75th and Irfan Pathan slipped six places to 36th position.

After an unlucky 2-1 loss in the four Test series against the Australians, the young Indian one-day side gained revenge with a 2-0 win in the tri-series finals.

Dhoni rated the triumph as greater than winning the inaugural Twenty20 World Cup last year and said criticism of Harbhajan had “galvanised” the Indians.

Harbhajan was a key figure throughout the tour as he clashed repeatedly with the Australians.

The feisty bowler escaped a three-match suspension for allegedly calling Andrew Symonds a monkey in the second Test in Sydney when the decision was overturned on appeal.

He was also involved in a war of words with Matthew Hayden during the one-dayers and was cleared of allegations he made monkey gestures and spat towards the crowd during the first final.

Speaking after Tuesday’s win here to secure the tri-series title, Dhoni said the Indians rallied behind the besieged spinner.

“There was a time when it seemed like he was like Michael Jackson, the way the media were following him,” Dhoni said.

“I think it would have been better if they stuck to cricket.

“He (Harbhajan) was harassed but after a while you get used to it — it backlashed… it galvanised our team.

“It became part of life, for close to three months every day there was something.

“I don’t know what will happen to the Aussie media.

“Harbhajan is going back home, so they will need someone to replace him.”

Dhoni said the controversies masked the good cricket his side was generally playing.

He stood by Harbhajan, saying he had been unfairly maligned.

“People might say he might have crossed the barrier but nothing was proved against him,” he said.

“From outside he looks a bit rash but you have to respect individuals.

“The more he was taken into these controversies, the more determined he was to perform.

“As skipper it’s difficult to calm him down, he’s an aggressive player and quite expressive on the field.

“But he’s the kind of player who fights hard — that’s a quality and that’s what character is all about.”

While all the external focus was on Harbhajan, Dhoni was pleased that young players like Ishant Sharma, Rohit Sharma, Robin Uthappa, Piyush Chawla and Praveen Kumar were important performers in the tri-series.

He said they were the future of Indian cricket.

“This series win will give them the confidence, security and assurance that they need that they are part of the team,” Dhoni said.

“Ultimately, this will be the core of the team.”
